Agnes "Honey" Veronica (McMahon) Carey, age 87, formerly of Brookline, Jamaica Plain, and Walpole, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Born in Boston on June 26th, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Terrance and Josephine Bridget (Lavin) McMahon. Raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, where she attended and graduated from St. Mary High School with the class of 1955.
Agnes married her beloved husband John Francis "Jocko" Carey on June 1st,1963 at the Mission Church. Together they purchased their first home in Jamaica Plain and welcomed their first son, Mark. John and Agnes moved to Walpole in 1969 when they welcomed their second son, Neal.
Agnes was a home maker, raising her sons, but was a volunteer at heart. As Mark and Neal grew, she was always helping at their events like Scouts, Little League, Pop Warner, and High School football. Agnes was also a volunteer at Norwood Hospital for 30 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister for the home bound through Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole. Upon her visits, she would share her faith and enjoy conversation.
Agnes was an avid Patriots fan and would watch their games on TV until the departure of Tom Brady. She then started rooting for Patrick Mahomes as she felt he was emerging as a great quarterback even though this created quite a disagreement with Mark.
