Alan John Browne

Alan John Browne, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his daughter's home in Hull, Massachusetts, with his loving family by his side.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on May 24, 1949, he was the son of the late Hugh and Muriel (Layton) Browne.  He was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1968.  Alan furthered his education at the University of Hartford, before earning his bachelors degree from the Massachusetts College of Art.  Following his graduation from college, Alan began his career as an artist, working primarily with oil and pastel.

 

Alan went on to make his home in Norwood, Massachusetts, where he welcomed his two children, Alison and David.  Alan went on to make his home at Fenway Studios in Boston, where he was able to focus on his art.  As a standout artist, Alan was a longtime member of the Guild of Boston Artists and the Rockport Art Association. Outside of his studio, Alan was a talented craftsman, spending some time in the carpentry field, adding his own artist style to anything he worked on. 

 

Throughout his life, Alan had a fascination with genealogy and history, joining the ranks of the Society of Colonial Wars.  He also had a love for animals, having a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and even a squirrel. 

 

Loving father of Alison Browne of Hull, and the late David Browne.

Cherished grandfather of Brielle, Jayden, and Joelle Browne.

Devoted son of the late Hugh and Muriel (Layton) Browne.

Brother of William Browne of Wareham, Thomas Browne and his wife, Kathy, of Walpole, Linda M. Browne and her husband, Scott Stover, of Wareham, Dianne Bamber and her husband, Gary, of Chatham, Melanie Browne Klein and her husband, Norman, of Wareham, Pamela Bulis and her husband, Robert, of Wareham, and the late Frederick C. Browne, II.

Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Alan's Life Celebration on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 2 to 5 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
