Albert J. "Red" Jordan, Jr.

August 25, 1937 — September 19, 2021

Albert “Red” J. Jordan Jr., age 84, of Walpole, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betsy” K. Jordan.

Red leaves behind his son John and his wife Kristen Jordan of Walpole. He adored his three granddaughters: Hope, Shannon and Kate Jordan.

Family was most important to Red. He and Betsy met on a blind date on New Year’s Eve. The couple married on May 27, 1967 at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. They settled in Walpole in 1967 and purchased their home from his parents. Red and Betsy loved camping on Cape Cod and in New Hampshire. They later traded-in the trailer for a house on the Cape, which they loved spending quality family time at. Red was an avid sports fan and passionately followed the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins. He had Patriots season tickets since 1969. Red was a die-hard fan for any sport or activity that John, Hope, Shannon or Kate played – he would even go and watch practices. In 2013, Red moved in and lived with John, Kristen and the girls.

Red was born on August 25, 1937 and was raised in Dedham. He graduated from Dedham High School. Red proudly served in the United States Navy and joined the SeaBees (the Navy Construction Battalion). In the Navy, he toured the Mediterranean and the Bahamas, including Eleuthera and Cuba. After the Navy, Red worked for Bird & Son, was a pressman for the Sun Chronicle and spent 20 years with Polaroid. Betsy and John were the test subjects of many Polaroid photo shoots. Throughout his years, Red was devoted to the Blessed Sacrament Parish and the Knights of Columbus, including the fourth degree. In 1996, Red retired from Polaroid and started volunteering at the Walpole Food Pantry, coordinating lunches with his Dedham friends and going on outings with Kristen and Hope. Betsy and Red traveled (drive, fly and cruise) up and down the east coast. His most memorable trips were Ireland, Notre Dame football games and Hawaii. However, Dennisport was his happy place.

Red was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” K. Jordan, his parents Albert and Alice Jordan, in-laws John and Margaret Kenney, his sisters Mary Lou Vandal and Catherine Black.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Red’s visitation on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
