Albert A. Lamperti

December 20, 1934 — February 27, 2021

Albert A. Lamperti, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his home in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on December 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Picozzi) Lamperti.  He was raised in Walpole, where he was a standout athlete on the football field at Walpole High School, before graduating with the Class of 1954.  Following his graduation, Al took a position with Bird and Son in East Walpole and later with Bird Machine, in addition to working part time as a school bus driver and starting a successful painting company.

Al married his high school sweetheart, Patricia A. Glass, on October 30, 1957.  Together they made their home in Walpole, however, shortly thereafter, Al was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country.  He was stationed in Greenland with the 588th Engineer Battalion for a period of five months before returning to Fort Belvoir in Virginia.  Al was honorably discharged in August of 1959, returning to his hometown of Walpole and his duties at Bird Johnson.

Al went on to form his own company, A.A. Lamperti, Inc, building custom homes.  One of his favorite real estate endeavors was the creation of Southridge Farm on South Street in Walpole.  He reveled in operating heavy machinery in his "big sand box."  In addition to operating heavy equipment at the Farm, Al served as the caretaker of Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole for many years. While Al worked hard, he also knew the value of giving back to his community, serving in town politics on both the Zoning Board and Board of Selectmen.

When Al wasn't hard at work, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, quahogging, snowmobiling, and hiking.  He took great pride in his vegetable gardens, which always yielded enough to be shared with family and friends.  Throughout his life he was fascinated with trains and traveled by rail anytime he could.  As a great admirer of World and US History, he could be found in his home with a book, enjoying some quiet time while expanding his knowledge base.  Most of all, he loved being surrounded by his family.  Al was a great storyteller and he enjoyed recounting his adventures with his children and grandchildren.
