Andrea L. Hourihan

Andrea L. (White) Hourihan, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 7, 1951, she was the daughter of Andrew Cloutier and Barbara (McGrath) White.  She was raised in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston, where she graduated from Roslindale High School with the Class of 1969.

Andrea married her high school sweetheart, Paul F. Hourihan, on April 22, 1972.  The young couple settled in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1977, where Andrea took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  In 1989, after her children had grown up, Andrea took a position with the Mozart Elementary School in her old neighborhood of Roslindale, working as the school's secretary.  Over the course of her career, Andrea wore many hats, ensuring her school ran smoothly.  She retired in 2010, after more than 20 years of dedication to the students of Mozart Elementary.

Throughout her life, Andrea loved spending time in Maine with her husband, Paul.  They looked forward to countless trips north enjoying the natural beauty the state offered.  In 2008, Andrea and Paul purchased a camper that was placed in a campground on Orrs Island in Maine, where they spent every summer for more than ten years.  While spending time at their home away from home on Orrs Island, Andrea loved meeting her neighbors, forming the best friendships anyone could ask for.  More recently, in 2022, Andrea and Paul purchased a permanent residence in Lisbon, Maine, realizing their dream of making "Vacationland" their home.

Most of all, Andrea was devoted to her family.  She loved being a stay-at-home mom with her children when they were young and was delighted to welcome her grandchildren, spending time with them often.  Andrea looked forward to autumn Sundays, when she surrounded herself with family and friends to cheer for her beloved New England Patriots.

Beloved wife of Paul F. Hourihan, Boston Fire Department, retired.

Loving mother of Keith M. Hourihan and Tanya of San Diego, California, Kimberly M Tausek of Walpole, and Paul A. Hourihan and Stephanie of Plainville.

Cherished grandmother of Olivia, Ethan, Mia, and Emilia.

Sister of the late Leonard White and his surviving wife, Carol, of Mansfield, and the late Donald White.

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, special friends in Maine, and her dog, Bandit.
