Ann "Alice" (Mullen) Kannally, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, at New Pond Village in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Elizabeth A. (Fitzgerald) Mullen. Alice spent her early years in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Alice married her beloved husband, Lewis J. "Sonny" Kannally, Jr., on November 30, 1952, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The young couple made their home in Walpole, where Alice took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. Her sewing skills came in handy as her family grew, welcoming her children, Charlene, Thomas, Timothy, and Todd, often making clothes for them to wear. Building a loving home was Alice's number one priority, as she was eager to create a beautiful life for her four children. The inside of her home was tastefully decorated, as Alice had an eye for style. Outside was just as nice, with perfectly manicured gardens and a swimming pool for her family and friends to enjoy. Of course, Alice would take the occasional dip in the pool too, showing off her perfect jackknife form, leaping from the diving board.
As her children grew up, Alice began her career with the Walpole Public Schools. She initially took a position with the Bird School in East Walpole, serving as a playground aide. Alice went on to work at the Fisher and Boyden Elementary Schools, building her career to become a classroom aide. When her youngest two were in high school, Alice took a position in the media center, keeping a close eye on her sons. Alice retired from Boyden Elementary School's media center in 1993, after many years of devoted service to the students of Walpole. Her legacy will live on in Boyden, where Alice's name is inscribed on a reading nook of the library.
To celebrate her retirement, and as a tribute to her love of gardening, Alice's family took her on a trip to the Hudson River Valley.
