Anne H. O'Connor

Anne H. (Morgan) O'Connor, age 80, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Atria Woodbriar Park in Falmouth, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 15, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Alexander D. Morgan, Jr. and Mary (Delaney) Morgan. She was raised in West Roxbury and graduated from Notre Dame Academy with the Class of 1958. While home was in West Roxbury, Anne enjoyed spending her summers at her family’s Harwichport home. Anne continued her education at Newton College of the Sacred Heart, earning her bachelor's degree with a focus on education in 1962. She went on to earn her master's degree in education from Boston State Teacher's College with the Class of 1964. Following her graduation, Anne took a teaching position with the Medfield Public Schools, working in both the elementary and middle school.

Anne married her beloved husband, James Francis O'Connor, on October 9, 1965 in Saint Theresa's Church in West Roxbury. They made their home together for a short time in West Roxbury before settling in Wellesley, where Anne took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her three children. As her children grew up, Anne returned to her education, earning a second master's degree, this time with a focus on Library Science, from Simmons College in Boston. She worked in several libraries in the area, including at the Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, the Belmont Hill School, and the Nativity Preparatory School of Boston.

Throughout her life, Anne was known for ability to entertain in her home, and she always looked forward to her big Christmas Eve party. She was fantastic in the kitchen, making big dinners to feed everyone and wonderful baked goods for dessert. In addition to the social life she kept up in her home, Anne enjoyed the social atmosphere at the Wellesley Country Club, where she spent countless hours perfecting her tennis game. Anne enjoyed some quiet time too, knitting sweaters for all her grandchildren and friends or seeking out the perfect book to escape into.

Most of all, Anne was dedicated to her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband Jim and loved spending a year away from home with him in London. As a loving mother, Anne encouraged her children to pursue their education, as it was a pillar in her own life. Anne was delighted to welcome her grandchildren and looked forward to having her family gather at her summer home on the Cape in Falmouth on Racing Beach. Her love for family extended well beyond her children and grandchildren, as she loved having dinner with her Delaney relatives in Walpole, recounting many stories from years gone by.

Loving mother of Christopher M. O'Connor and his wife, Amy, of Long Island, New York, Carolyn O'Connor of Mashpee, and Edward J. "Ted" O'Connor and his wife, Mindy, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Cherished grandmother of Daniel James O'Connor, Ryan James O'Connor, Georgia Elizabeth O'Connor, Liam Alexander O'Connor, and the late Brendan Riley O'Connor.

Sister of Marie Maybury of Virginia, the late Carolyn Doyle, and the late Alexander D. Morgan, III.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for Anne's Life Celebration on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Paul's Church, 502 Washington Street, Wellesley on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
