Barbara A. Ryan

December 17, 1935 — December 2, 2019

Barbara A. (Connors) Ryan, age 83, passed away peacefully in her East Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, December 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Dailey) Connors.  She was raised in Roxbury, graduating from Roxbury High School with the Class of 1953.  Following graduation, Barbara took a position with the Garland Knitting Mill in Jamaica Plain.

Barbara married her beloved husband, George E. Ryan, on February 8, 1957, while he was still on active duty in the Marine Corps.  After his honorable discharge, the young couple returned to Boston, settling in Jamaica Plain, later making their home in Dorchester and Roslindale, where Barbara took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  In 1973, Barbara and George moved out of the city, making their new home in East Walpole, Massachusetts.  As her children grew up, Barbara returned to work, taking a part-time position at Bradlees at the Walpole Mall.

Throughout her life, Barbara loved to travel.  She alongside her husband, George, drove their camper across the entire United States, visiting every state except Hawaii.  They were long time members of the KOA (Kampgrounds of America), and took advantage of their amenities wherever they stopped.  Barbara and George were also motorcycle enthusiasts and were member of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.  Back at home, Barbara enjoyed caring for her vegetable and flower gardens in her back yard.  Barbara also enjoyed following the professional golf tournaments on television and kept her fall Sundays clear to watch her beloved New England Patriots.  However, most of all, Barbara loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
