Brendan John Sheehan

Brendan Sheehan, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2023. Born in Walpole he was the son of John and Linda (Ramsay) Sheehan. He attended the Walpole School System graduating in the class of 1998.  Post-secondary education included Mitchell College in New London, CT where he earned an associate’s degree and Westfield State College graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, Brendan worked as a Customer Service Agent for Budget Rent A Car and has since worked at BJ's Wholesale Club for the past 15 years.

Brendan earned the Eagle Scout award as a member of Troop 44 in Walpole.  He was a scout’s scout.  He saw himself as honest, trustworthy and compassionate; personal traits that he could share with younger scouts as an Assistant Scout Master. He organized trips for the Scout Troop to New York City.  They bunked aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, visited Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

He was a longtime member of the South Shore Model Railroad Club.  He had an extensive collection of railroad memorabilia including locomotives, passenger and freight cars.  He generously shared this experience as Assistant Scout Master for the Scouts earning the Railroading merit badge.

Brendan was an active member of the Walpole Public Library’s activities committee.  The five members enthusiastically engaged writers, musicians, and other artists for public entertainment and enrichment. Brendan developed relationships with sports journalist Dan Shaughnessy and author Michael Tougias.

Brendan never met a Democrat he didn’t like.  He was an ardent supporter of many causes.  Some were successful, most were not.  He worked on the presidential campaigns for Hillary Clinton and for John Kerry.  He was on the front lines for Martha Coakley.  His support for the working man and family values never waned as he succeeded in electing Senator Warren and President Biden.

Survived by his sister Amanda Smith of Reading and her husband Michael and their two children Abigail and Hannah; brother of Cierra Sheehan of Norwood; loving nephew of Roberta Sheehan and Earl Taylor of North Quincy, Rosemary and Dan Durica of Norwell, and Robert and Ellen Ramsay of Sagamore Beach and lots of cousins.
