Caitlin E. McCarthy passed away in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Friday morning, March 6, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 2, 2002, she is the daughter of Joseph M. McCarthy, Jr. and Susan A. (Snuffer) McCarthy. At a young age, Caitlin was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, but that never kept her down, as she lived a life full of joy and love. Caitlin was raised in Walpole and educated in her home by her devoted and caring teachers and therapists. Throughout her life, Caitlin learned how to sew, tend to her own vegetable garden, and master the kitchen. She also enjoyed painting, creating many canvases for her family and friends to enjoy. Scrapbooking was another skill that Caitlin learned, allowing her to reflect back at her accomplishments and wonderful moments in her life.
Caitlin’s life truly revolved around her family. She loved her two brothers, Matt and Dan, especially when they read her a favorite story, and she always rewarded them with a culinary delight. Whenever the Boston Bruins or the New England Patriots were playing, Caitlin could be found right next to her Dad, helping to cheer on the home team. Caitlin looked to her Mom when it was time for a change of scenery in her room, which was transformed into many different themes over the years. Josie, Caitlin’s service dog, formed an incredibly close bond with her, never wanting to leave her side in her last few days.
