Carl Mack Wilson

Carl Mack Wilson was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 29, 1943. He was the youngest of twelve to the late King and Nellie Wilson. As a young man, Carl heard the Lord's calling and, along with his brothers, shared the message he received across Alabama through gospel music, invigorating audiences with his beautiful voice and performance. He loved to sing and teach the notes, gathering everyone around the record player to listen and sing along, inspiring multiple Wilson generations to take up the torch and follow in his footsteps.

On September 26, 1964, Carl married the lovely Charlie Mae McConico, four months after they spent the evening serenading each other.  Carl wanted a better life for his family, so he moved to Boston, Massachusetts in the early part of 1965 to prepare a place for his expecting wife. Charlie Mae joined Carl in June 1965 and in a few months gave birth to their daughter, Carla Elise Wilson. A year later Carl Mack Wilson, Jr., was welcomed and a few years later another daughter, Wendora Patrice Wilson, was born.

As his family grew, Carl and Charlie quickly learned that talent ran in the family, with both of his daughters able to carry awe inspiring notes. Carl was a fervent supporter of his wife as she organized "The Wilson Family Gospel Singers", able to see his legacy in action. The group sang all over the United States, including Alabama, Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts, including most of the churches in the Metro-Boston Area. Carl was known to always be there for his family. He travelled with his daughters to every performance after Charlie's untimely passing in 2011.

Carl became best known as a “Shade Tree Mechanic” because there wasn’t a car in Boston that Carl could not fix. He also worked in a factory,  in maintenance at the Boston Public Library, as a Bus Driver for the Boston Public Schools, and in security services. In his free time, Carl loved to fish, especially in the summer, and as often as he could.

Carl Mack Wilson is survived by his three children Carla Wilson-Barnes (Wayne), Carl Mack Wilson, Jr. (Cristin Conti), Wendora Patrice Wilson (Marc Daniel); grandchildren Carl Mack Wilson, III, Bria Siobhan Wilson, Jeremy Christopher Wilson, Danielle Patrice Barnes, and Jason Anthony Wilson; four great grandchildren Camilla, Iyarie, Jeremy and Damaria, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his grandson, Wayne Matthew Barnes, ex-wife Charlie Mae McConico Wilson; his beloved siblings, King, Nate, Irene, Robert, Joe, James, Eugenie, Phillip, David, Ethel, and Evelyn; sister-in-laws Rosa and Mary, and brother-in-law Walter.
