Carole L. Mannix

November 2, 1952 — June 5, 2022

Carole L. (Lee) Mannix, age 69, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Boston on November 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Dorothea H. (Prasinos) Lee.  She was raised in the Hyde Park area of Boston, where she formed lifelong friendships. Carole graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1970 and graduated from Aquinas Junior College in 1972. Following her graduation, Carole took a position with the Boston Edison Credit Union, working as a secretary.

Carole married her high school sweetheart, Edward P. Mannix, on August 15, 1976.  The young couple made their home in Norwood for a short time, before buying their house in Walpole.  After welcoming her children, Michael and Elaine, Carole took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  As her children grew up, Carole took a job with Michael J. Connolly & Sons in Walpole, driving one of their school bus routes and later took a position with Designing Dancer in Walpole Center.  More recently, Carole became a familiar face in the Westwood Public Schools, where she spent many years helping her students as a teacher's aide.

When she wasn't working, Carole maintained a busy civic schedule, overseeing the Walpole Girl Scouts and the Walpole Youth Connection.  She took an active role in her children's lives where some of her proudest moments were being a cheer and dance mom. Carole kept busy at home, working on various craft projects, and utilizing her knitting and sewing skills.  During the pandemic, Carole's skills were in great demand, as she made masks for everyone she knew.

More than anything, Carole was devoted to her family and always put them first.  She shared a loving relationship with her husband, Ed, from the time they started dating at the age of fourteen.  They loved spending time at the beach together, finding Horseneck to be their favorite.  As a young mom, Carole carried on her family tradition of camping in the summer months and bringing her family to the shores of several lakes in New Hampshire.  After her husband passed, Carole returned to her roots, settling back in her hometown of Hyde Park but looked forward to car trips to Cape Cod and New Hampshire with her children. It brought her immense joy to spend time with her husband, Ed’s, sister and family, being such an important part of each other’s lives.  In the most recent years, watching her grandson, Edward, laugh and play were some of her most treasured moments.

Beloved wife of the late Edward P. Mannix, Esq.
Loving mother of Michael E. Mannix and his wife, Megan Tatum, of Three Rivers and Elaine L. Mannix of Boston.
Cherished grandmother of Edward J. Mannix.
Much loved sister-in-law of Linda Murphy (and the late Robert Murphy) and daughters Robin and Suzanne and their families.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Carole's visitation on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 9 to 10:30 AM at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.  A graveside service will follow in the Gardens of Gethsemane, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
