Catherine E. Sansone

September 3, 1940 — November 6, 2022

Catherine E. (Costello) Sansone, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at her daughter's home in Milford, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Margaret M. (McNulty) Costello.  She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1958.  Following her graduation, Catherine began her working career in the office of Nortronics in Norwood.

Catherine married her beloved husband, Francis J. Sansone, on October 27, 1963, at Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole.  Together, the young couple made their home in Walpole, where, after welcoming her children, Catherine took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  In addition to raising her children, Catherine served as the bookkeeper for her husband's company, Sansone Brothers Sand and Gravel.  As her children grew up, Catherine ventured out into the working world, holding several positions, keeping herself busy.  While she stayed busy, as a devout Catholic, Catherine always found time to give back to her church, volunteering for the annual Harvest Days Celebration.

Throughout the years, Catherine enjoyed a wonderful social life.  She was a longtime member of multiple bowling leagues at the Norwood Sports Center and looked forward to gathering with friends at Blessed Sacrament Church for a night of Bingo.  Catherine also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Plainridge with her friends, trying her luck on the casino floor.  Back at home in Walpole, Catherine cultivated a beautiful flower garden and used the harvest from her vegetable garden to make an amazing meal for her family to enjoy.  She enjoyed some quiet time too, working on her sewing and macrame projects or assembling stained glass.  However, most of all, Catherine loved being surrounded by her family.  She always hosted her family for a big Sunday dinner, which transitioned from her home to an area restaurant in more recent years, and was especially happy to be surrounded by her grandchildren.
