Charles D. DeGirolamo

April 24, 1938 — July 14, 2019

Charles D. DeGirolamo, age 81, passed away peacefully in the Alliance Health Center at West Acres in Brockton, Massachusetts on Sunday, July 14, 2019.  Born in his family’s home in Sharon, Massachusetts on April 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Fisher) DeGirolamo.  He was raised in Sharon, where, as a young boy, Charles taught himself to read and play the piano.

During his teenage years, Charles found work at the Lafayette House on Route 1 in Foxborough.  In the 1980s he took a position with Republic Plumbing Supply in Norwood, working as the custodian and made his home in Stoughton, Massachusetts.  Charles was a dedicated and loved employee of Republic, often returning in the recent years to have his morning coffee with the staff.

When he wasn’t busy at work, Charles enjoyed taking in the sights aboard trains, planes, and helicopters.  He was the proud owner of a large train collection, spending countless hours setting up the tracks in his home.  Throughout his life, Charles had a love for animals and always enjoyed looking at various flower gardens.  Most of all, he loved being surrounded by his family.  In the summer months, Charles could be found on Cape Cod in Falmouth, swimming, fishing, and boating.  As the weather turned cooler, he looked forward to celebrating the holidays with those he loved, often gathering friends and family around the piano to all sing a song together.

Devoted son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Fisher) DeGirolamo.
Loving brother of the late June Duggan, Alice Kulpa, Joseph DeGirolamo, Jr., Stella DeGirolamo, Bernice Foster, and Pasquale DeGirolamo.
Devoted uncle of Nancy Lenhart and her husband, John, of Hingham, William Duggan, Jr., and his wife Carol of Canton, Thomas Duggan of Canton, Jill Duggan of Canton, Gerald Christian of Canton, Joseph DeGirolamo and his wife, Sheryle, of North Attleborough, Susan DeGirolamo of Sharon, the late James Duggan, and the late Judith Summers.
Also survived by many members of his extended family and his dear friend Daniel Miller of Stoughton.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Charles’ Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage Street, Sharon on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Rock Ridge Cemetery.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted at the request of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Arc of South Norfolk, 789 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood, MA 02090.  Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
