Colin J. Evans

Colin J. Evans, age 87, passed away peacefully in Sunrise of Norwood on Sunday, December 29, 2019.  Born in Cardiff, Wales, UK on May 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Jesse S. and Mary (Collins) Evans. 

 

As a boy, Colin lived with his family in India for 5 years.  Later, Colin served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1947-1951.

 

Colin married his beloved wife, Joan E. Bowman, on August 14, 1954 in Cardiff.  The young couple made their home together in multiple locations in Wales and southern England before emigrating to the United States in 1966.

 

Colin and family resided in the northeastern U.S., including homes in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts while working for AVCO Lycoming (Textron Lycoming) until his retirement in 1992 – after which he performed substantial volunteer work for his local library system.  Colin was a skilled DIY man, avid hobbyist (primarily photography and computers) and a lifelong passion for reading and learning in just about any subject.

 

Beloved husband of Joan E. (Bowman) Evans.

Loving father of Michael J. Evans and his wife, Kathy Kocian of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Susan M. Evans of Walpole, Keir R. Evans and his wife, Karen Fieldstad, of Topsfield, and Derek A. Evans and his wife, Tanya, of Westfield, New Jersey.

Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Sam, Will, Lizzy, Kate, and Carys.

Brother of Tony Evans of England, Christine Day of England, Terry Bryant of England, the late David Evans, and the late Graham Evans.

 

All services are private at the request of Colin’s Family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Colin’s name may be made to charity of your choice.
