David William Johnson

David William Johnson, age 83, passed away unexpectedly after a tragic accident on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, on March 3, 1942, and was the son of the late Arthur and Victoria (Mattson) Johnson. David grew up in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School with the Class of 1959.

After graduating, David started working at the Bird Box Factory in East Walpole, but he soon found his true passion as a machinist. David worked at Harvard Apparatus in Natick. His talents didn’t go unnoticed, and his supervisors encouraged him to take programming classes in Boston, which helped him learn to operate the new machinery.

David married his beloved wife, Patricia Turco, on September 11, 1977, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The couple made their home on Washington Street in Walpole, where David loved taking care of his house and decorating for different seasons and holidays. His yard was always beautifully maintained, and he enjoyed spending time in his garden, especially growing his prize tomatoes. He was truly a jack of all trades—whether working on his cars, handling small electrical or plumbing projects, or even building his own television. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. His skills extended into the kitchen as well—an excellent chef, David savored cooking and often delighted his family with homemade meals.

After dedicating 32 years to Harvard Apparatus, David retired and spent his days enjoying Boston sports teams and nurturing his tomato garden, starting his plants in the basement during the winter months. Most of all, he cherished his wife, Pat, with whom he shared a remarkable relationship spanning over 48 years.

Beloved husband of Patricia (Turco) Johnson.

Loving father of Michael David Johnson of Walpole and Cheryl McCormick of Norton.

Brother of the late Elmer Johnson, the late Edward Johnson, the late Edna Deptula, and the late Paul Johnson.

Brother-in-law of Maura Dwyer of Walpole, Robert Turco of Walpole, and the late Peter Turco.

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
