David Patrick Walsh

David Patrick Walsh, 57, passed away peacefully at Boston Medical Center on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026. Born in Norwood on March 10th, 1969, he was the son of John J. Walsh and the late Carol Ann (MacNeil) Walsh.

David spent his early years as a multisport athlete, participating in soccer, baseball, gymnastics, and especially football, which he favored. He carried that athleticism throughout his years at Walpole High School, from which he graduated in 1987 before attending UMass Amherst.

David met his beloved wife Xue while they were both working at AEI in Boston. They married on June 14th, 1998 and settled in Stoughton where they welcomed two sons, Bryan and Brendan. Although David worked as a document control technician, friends and family also knew him to be quite the handyman, who could be called upon for anything that needed fixing. Whenever possible, David loved to spend his holidays and vacations in Maine with his family, where they would often visit the shores of Sebago Lake in the summer months.

He was a man of many varied interests. He owned an assortment of vinyl records, tape cassettes, and CDs featuring The Beatles, Rush, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and many other classic rock legends. In addition to listening to music, he had a knack for creating and playing some of his own. He spent much of his childhood as a drummer and later picked up the guitar and electric bass. In his young adult years, he was a part of many bands, jamming out whenever possible.

An artist in all ways, David was also quite fond of sketching and calligraphy, for which his talents were successfully passed down to his two sons.

He collected DVDs of his favorite movies, Star Wars being one of his prized box sets. An avid reader, David frequented the library for anything he didn’t already have in his personal collection. He would pick up anything history related, especially Civil War era stories, but never shied away from a deeply immersive science fiction novel.

Above all, David was “the glue” in all of his personal relationships. He had a wide circle of friends, and stayed well connected with even the most distant family members. His sharp and witty sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He was always happy to chat with anyone, always with the goal of making someone smile.

Beloved husband of Xue (Mei) Walsh.

Loving father of Bryan J. Walsh and Brendan P. Walsh of Stoughton.

Brother of John J. Walsh and wife Lisa Walsh of Plymouth and Lyn M. Russo of Foxborough.

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
