Donald R. Urquhart

Donald R. Urquhart of Walpole entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2021. He was born on March 13, 1932 to the late Katherine (McLeod) and Roderick Urquhart.

Donald graduated from Walpole High School, Class of 1950, attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and proudly served in the United States Navy. He established Don Urquhart Contracting in Walpole, later incorporated as DUC Construction Corporation, where he could be found daily until his 87th year.

He was the loving father/step-father of Donna Driscoll and her husband, William, of Mansfield, Theodore Urquhart and his partner, Lorraine Zammarchi, of Walpole, Peter Urquhart and his fiancée, Beverly Orlando, of Plainville, George Lonergan and his wife, Lisa, of Hope, RI, Paul Lonergan of Walpole and his partner, Beth Poplawski, and Kathryn Lonergan and her fiancé, Kenneth McGill, Jr., of Millis. He was the beloved grandfather of Tracy Urquhart Zukoski and her husband, Thomas, of Mill Valley, CA, Steven Urquhart and his wife, Jeannine, of East Bridgewater, Emma, Halley and PJ Lonergan of Walpole, Paul and Alexandra Lonergan of Hope, RI and Jaxon McGill of Millis and the devoted great-grandfather of Theodore Zukoski and Ava and Ella Urquhart. He is also survived by his adoring cat, Pepper, and his other half, Denise, née Lafond. He was predeceased by his siblings Nelson, Roderick, and Stuart Urquhart and Eleanor Gazerro. He was the former husband and high school sweetheart of the late Theodora (Hurd) Urquhart.

An animal lover, he provided a loving home to many, many homeless cats and adopted several dogs throughout his life. Most of his dogs were black Labrador Retrievers, his favorite breed.

Visiting hours are from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, December 9th at James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
