Donna Gail McKay

December 9, 1944 — January 25, 2021

Donna Gail McKay, age 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 in the Charlwell House in Norwood, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood on December 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Elsie (Jewett) Whitaker. She was raised in Westwood, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1961. Following her graduation, Donna took a position with Rustcraft.

While married to her first husband, Donna lived in Texas, and Maine and welcomed two children, Lawrence and Douglas. After welcoming Doug, she settled back in her hometown of Westwood. In the late 1970s, Donna took a position with Gerber Electronics in Dedham, working as an accounts payable clerk. She remained with the company after their move to Norwood and retired in 2005, after 27 years of dedicated service.

Throughout her life, Donna loved to travel. She visited the Caribbean, New Hampshire, and Martha's Vineyard often. Back at home, she enjoyed spending time cultivating her flower gardens, playing with her dogs, and bowling in her league at the Norwood Sports Center. Most of all, Donna was dedicated to her family. She was delighted at the birth of her grandchildren and was always present at all their school events and athletic competitions, taking photos from the sidelines to add to her memories. More recently, Donna moved to Walpole, so she could spend even more time with her sons and grandchildren.

Loving mother of Lawrence R. McKay and his wife, Denise Quinn, and Douglas A. McKay Jr. and his wife, Tina, all of Walpole.

Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Gavin, Shay, Sidney, and Logan.

Sister of Joan Curtis of Tennessee.

Also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Donna's Life Celebration on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

As a result of the ongoing and ever developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Donna's family has decided that her funeral service and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association 309 Waverley Oaks Road Waltham, MA 02452.
