Eileen F. Troland

January 2, 1943 — February 3, 2021

Eileen F. (O'Reilly) Troland, age 78, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 03, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, Massachusetts, the result of a non-Covid-related short illness.  Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on January 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine F. (Duggan) O'Reilly.  She spent her early years in Cambridge before settling with her family in Westwood, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1960.

Eileen spent some of her early young adult life traveling.  She went to California and even lived in Germany for a time.  She then came back to Massachusetts where she worked at Hanscom Airforce Base as a secretary.  From there she transitioned to the Kendall Company and it was during that time Eileen met and married her beloved husband, James D. Troland, Jr., on April 19, 1970.  The couple made their home together in Walpole, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their son, Sean.  They were married for almost 42 years until Jim’s Heavenly home going in January of 2012.

Eileen then worked at New Medico Associates in Boston – joyfully riding the T from Walpole to Boston for many years – long before they had soft comfortable seats and ac.  From there she worked at Northrup Grumman in Norwood and finally SAIC in Needham from where she retired as a receptionist.

Eileen liked poetry and wrote a number of poems that she would recite when asked.  She also enjoyed singing from an early age when her Dad would have she and her two older sisters sing in front of guests in their home.  She had a wonderful singing voice and sang often (if you knew her she sang to you every year on your birthday).  She was also a great card distributer and stock in Hallmark is bound to go down as a result of her passing.

Eileen loved people and was very social.  She was happiest around those she loved.  She was extremely proud of her family; she was so proud of who they had become and who they were becoming.  She was an encourager and, most importantly, a prayer warrior.  If you knew her, she prayed for you.  If you had prayer need, she prayed for that.  If you knew someone who needed prayer, she prayed for them.  She prayed and trusted God for the answer to her prayers and she saw many, many answered prayers, confirming who God is.

Eileen was a very kind and loving person.  While she didn’t have great wealth she was generous almost to a fault.  And she is in Heaven now – not because she was kind and loving and generous but only because of Jesus and His death on the cross for her sins.  She is alive and well in Heaven but absent from this earth.  She was very, very loved and she will be greatly missed by many.

Beloved wife of the late James D. Troland, Jr.
Loving sister of Maureen C. Upton and her late husband, Bob, of Hingham and the late Virginia A. O’Reilly.  Beloved mother of Sean T. Troland and his wife, Maria, of Milton, Vermont; and stepmother of James D. Troland III and his wife, Mary, of Bellingham, Christine Troland and her partner, Cliff, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Michael J. Troland of Milford. Cherished grandmother of Christine Yanovitch, Kenneth Troland, Matthew Troland, Meghan Henning, Gianna Troland, and Sofia Troland; and great grandmother of Garrett Parker, Jessie Parker, Kendall Parker, Nicolas Parker, Ayla Troland, Brianna Troland, Daniel Henning, and Cora Henning, and the late Matthew James Troland.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law Robert Troland and wife, Carol of Middleboro, the late Francis Troland and his wife Alma formerly of Middleboro, as well as many nieces and nephews – all who loved and cherished her deeply.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Eileen's Life Celebration on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 9 to 11 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

Because of the concerns surrounding Covid-19, Eileen's family has decided that her Funeral Service will be private, with interment taking place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
