Eleanore Marie Peyton, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Arbors in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on September 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion (Cross) Swanton. She spent her early years in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston, before settling in Milton, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Milton High School with the Class of 1943. Eleanore continued her education, earning a certificate from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston in 1944. Following her graduation from Katherine Gibbs, Eleanore took a secretarial position with the New England Telephone Company.
Eleanore married her beloved husband, Eugene Francis Peyton, on November 12, 1949, in her hometown of Milton. Together, they made their home in Walpole, Massachusetts, where Eleanore and Eugene became members of the Walpole Country Club, enjoying a day together on the course. Once settled into their home in Walpole, Eleanore took on the role of a homemaker, welcoming her four children, Garrett, Ellen, Lauren, and Gene. As her children grew up, Eleanore returned to her career, taking a receptionist and secretarial position with the engineering department of the Kendall Company in Walpole. Sadly, in 1973, Eleanore's husband, Eugene, passed away at the age of 49.
Two years later, in 1975, Eleanore met Gerald "Jerry" Rosser through a Parents Without Partners meeting. Over the course of the next forty years, they shared a wonderful relationship, traveling throughout the world, with stops in Europe, Morocco, Bermuda, Canada, and various locations across the United States. They were never far apart and loved taking bicycle rides or walks wherever they traveled.
Following her retirement from the Kendall Company in 1983, Eleanore took her golf clubs to the Foxborough Country Club, where she spent countless hours on the course with Jerry and her daughter Ellen. In addition to socializing at the country club, Eleanore looked forward to spending time with her friends playing bridge and taking ski trips with Jerry to the Balsams and Mount Wachusett. At home, she enjoyed tending her gardens and playing one of her favorite songs on the piano.

Loving mother of Garrett John Peyton and his wife, Julie, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, Ellen Louise McDavitt and her husband, Francis, of Walpole, Lauren Marie Zysk and her late husband, Darren, of Foxborough, and Gene William Peyton of Burlington, Vermont.
Cherished grandmother of Tina McDavitt Mattera and her husband, Chuck, of Wakefield, Kate McDavitt Urquhart and her husband, Geoff, of Needham, Jennifer Peyton McDavitt and her fiancé, Caleb Jacob-Smith, of Los Angeles, California, Kendra Zysk of Somerville, Hillary Zysk Neagle and her husband, Colin, of Walpole, Tacy Zysk of Providence, Rhode Island, Brooke Peyton Stauffer and her husband, T.J., of Cape Coral, Florida, and Wesley Peyton of Denver, Colorado; and great grandmother of Eleanore Urquhart, Caroline Urquhart, Margaret Urquhart, Lucy Mattera, Madelyn Mattera, Julian Peyton Gonzales, Jackson Peyton Hoelzer, Mason Lange Hoelzer, and Isaiah Lange Stauffer.
Sister of the late William B. Swanton and Robert Swanton.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Eleanore's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and interment will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Natick Walpole VNA, Attn: Finance Office, P.O. Box 252, Walpole, MA 02081. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
