Ellen T. (Flanagan) Moriarty, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts, with her loving family by her side. Born in Brookline, Massachusetts on September 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Ronayne) Flanagan. Ellen was raised in Brookline, where she graduated from Saint Mary's High School with the Class of 1951. She continued her education at the Felt and Tarron Business School in Boston, earning her certificate a year later. Following her graduation, Ellen took a position with Sears and Roebuck, where she would meet her husband to be, Robert V. Moriarty.
Ellen and Robert were married in her home parish, Saint Mary's, in Brookline, on April 30, 1955. Together, they made their first home in Newton, Massachusetts, before settling in Walpole in 1960. After welcoming her children, Ellen took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. However, as her three children grew up, Ellen returned to her career, taking a position with the Walpole Public Schools, working as a teacher's aide in the Stone School. Ellen went on to become the secretary for the school's principal before moving into the superintendent's office. In the early 1980s, Ellen had a change of career, taking a job with Norwood Hospital, serving as the medical receptionist for the Day Surgery Department.
While Ellen's career kept her busy, she always found time to give back to her community. She was a longtime member of the Walpole Women's Club, holding the office of Recording Secretary over the years. Ellen regularly volunteered at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital, honoring the veterans that the hospital served. On a local level, Ellen spent countless hours assisting the Veterans Service Officer in Walpole, presenting the office with a new flag each year.
Ellen will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She brought joy and happiness to everyone she met, radiating kindness from her beautiful soul.
