Frank N. Wentworth

July 10, 1934 — December 26, 2020

Frank N. Wentworth (Jr.) - Dad - was born to Francis Nathaniel Wentworth, Sr. and Eleanor Wilke Wentworth of Dorchester, MA, on July 10, 1934, along with his twin brother, Paul. They grew up together with their three sisters - Eleanor, Jane and Nancy - during the aftermath of the Great Depression.

He and his family moved to Arlington, MA, during his youth and he later graduated from Arlington High School, where he met his wife, Judy, and their many friends. They were married on August 31, 1957 and spent 63 years together, having raised three children - Gary, Cara and Mark - and been blessed with two grandchildren - Theona and Jackson.

Dad joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from the ROTC program at Boston College, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He and Mom spent his tour of duty at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA. He was immensely proud of his military service as a Marine. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to Boston to be close to family and Dad joined the Stop and Shop Companies as their transportation manager.

Dad dedicated more than 45 years of his life to a career in transportation and food distribution in New England. A man of character and resolve, he was respected, admired and loved by the many people who touched his life - from friends and family, to colleagues and associates. To this day, when traveling throughout New England, I am greeted by people who exclaim “Oh, you’re Frank’s son!”

A child of the Great Depression, Dad learned early in life to be thankful, and he impressed a great sense of gratitude on us. He shared all that he had, and wanted only one thing from life - for his children to be happy and have good lives. Dad was respectful, friendly and outgoing, and always had a joke or two with his own special sense of humor - one that will surely mark his memory for all.

He is survived by his wife Judy, son Gary and his husband, Sasha, daughter Cara and two grandchildren, Theona and Jackson, son Mark, sisters Eleanor Wentworth Renshaw of San Diego, CA and Jane Wentworth Buckley of Lexington, MA. Beloved twin brother of Paul J. Wentworth, Sr. (deceased), of Woburn, MA, and brother of Nancy Wentworth (deceased) of Arlington, MA.

Due to the ongoing health crisis and out of concern for our family and friends, services will be held privately. Dad will be laid to rest with a military honors ceremony at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made in Dad’s name and memory to the New England Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135 or at www.thehome.org. We will hold a memorial service for Dad in July 2021, where his broader circle of family and friends may gather to share remembrances and celebrate his life.
