George Botsaris

March 17, 1945 — August 18, 2022

George Botsaris, age 77, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at his home in Sharon, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Lia, Greece on March 17, 1945, he was the son of Athanasios and Aggeliki (Petsi) Botsaris.  He was raised in Greece and began his career as a laborer before joining the Greek Navy.  While on a naval vessel, George crossed the Atlantic Ocean, docking in Canada, where he was discharged and began a new life for himself at the age of twenty-one.  While living in Canada, George began serving as a plumber's apprentice, learning as much as he could about the trade.  Two years later, George took his skill set to the United States of America, settling in Chicago.

George continued working as a plumber in the Chicago area for nine years, before returning to Greece to marry the love of his life, Maria G. Scopeliti, on August 17, 1977.  After returning to the United States with his wife in 1978, the couple made their home in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where they opened Jimmy's Pizza Shop.  Two years later, George moved his family to Cambridge, where he purchased Stefanis, which he operated until he returned to Greece in 1985 with his family.  George made the trip back across the Atlantic in 1987, making his home in Saugus, Massachusetts, and taking a position with Cappy's Pizza in Hyde Park, however he was only back for a short time, as he felt compelled to return to his home country, where he and his family resided until 1999.  George once more returned to the United States, initially making his home in Roslindale, Massachusetts, before settling in the small suburban town of Sharon in 2004.  Upon their return, he and his wife, Maria, began working at Dinas Pizza in Rockland.

While the United States offered George many opportunities, from owning his own restaurants to buying beautiful cars and clothes, he always felt at home back in Greece.  He looked forward to spending the winter and summer months in Greece, enjoying all the country had to offer.  After a three month stay, George loved coming home to see his family, especially his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Maria G. (Scopeliti) Botsari.

Loving father of Aggeliki Botsari and her husband, Dimitris Tsatsarakos, of Greece, Vasilios "Billy" Botsaris and his wife, Lorena Petrillo, of East Walpole, Konstantina Botsari of Sharon, and Athanasia Botsari of Sharon.
