Giselle R. Sullivan

October 17, 1935 — July 11, 2019

Giselle R. (Albert) Sullivan, age 83, passed away peacefully in her Walpole, Massachusetts home at New Pond Village on Thursday, July 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Madawaska, Maine on October 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cora (Michaud) Albert.  She was raised in Madawaska and graduated from Madawaska High School with the Class of 1953.  Giselle went on to attend the Massachusetts School of Household Nursing on Newbury Street in Boston, earning her LPN in 1955.

Giselle married her beloved husband, Philip L. Sullivan, on January 28, 1956 in Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood.  As Philip was still on active duty, the young couple initially made their home together in Tacoma, Washington, where he was stationed.  While living in Washington, Giselle took a position with Tacoma General Hospital in the anesthesia department.  Once Philip was discharged from the Army in 1957, the couple returned to Massachusetts, living in Norwood, and Giselle began working in the pediatrics department of Norwood Hospital.  In 1960, Giselle and Philip moved to Stone Street in Walpole before settling into their family home on Eastover Road, where they lived for more than 50 years.  In addition to her full-time position at Norwood Hospital and raising her family, Giselle took classes at Miss Kelly’s School of Electrolysis, becoming a Certified Electrologist and operating a business out of her home.  Giselle transferred to Southwood Hospital in Norfolk in the mid-1970s, remaining dedicated to her many patients until her retirement in 2000.

When Giselle wasn’t hard at work, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Philip, taking many memorable trips over the years. Back at home, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and singing with the Walpole Senior Moments Choir.  Giselle also enjoyed various crafts, including crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends, The Knitting Nannies, at the Norwood Senior Center, making afghans for veterans and making Christmas Stockings for her family.  More than anything, Giselle loved spending time with her family.  As a dedicated grandmother, she looked forward to taking in active role in her grandchildren’s lives and was delighted to watch them grow up to have their own families.
