Helena Patricia (Mulcahy) Knight, age 83, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at her home in East Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 19, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Helen (Moriarty) Mulcahy. Helena was raised in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, graduating from Mission Church High School in nearby Roxbury, Massachusetts with the class of 1960. Upon graduation, Helena found employment as a saleswoman for Filene’s in Burlington, Massachusetts until she left the East Coast to explore California in 1970.
Helena returned home to Massachusetts a few years later, where she would meet the love of her life, Henry B. Knight. Wedding bells were soon ringing, and the pair were married on June 1, 1974, in Mission Church in Roxbury. The young couple briefly made their married home in West Roxbury before moving to nearby Dedham, Massachusetts to begin raising a family.
After welcoming their son, Mark, to the world, Helena and Henry set out for the suburbs, landing in East Walpole, Massachusetts in 1979.
In addition to taking care of her family, Helena returned to the workforce in 1982, taking a position with American Auto Auction. She left American Auto at the end of the decade, but remained in the automotive industry, serving as a receptionist for a variety of car dealerships along Route 1 until her retirement in 2000.
Home and work may have been in East Walpole, but Helena's heart was in New Hampshire. She and Henry purchased a vacation home in the Weirs Beach neighborhood of Laconia, New Hampshire in the late 1970's. For Helena, nothing beat an afternoon on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee when the weather was warm. Her love for the Granite State meant most weekends and vacations were spent there, enjoying the beach and the beautiful scenic views.
In her free time, Helena loved to read. She was an avid reader, always on the lookout for a great thriller. She also enjoyed watching Netflix, especially Downtown Abbey. Helena never turned down an opportunity to shop and knew the locations of all the best Flea Markets from her home in MA up to her vacation home in NH. More than anything though, Helena loved to be with her family. Helena was supportive mother; always encouraging her son throughout his life. She volunteered at Mark's schools and was involved with all his activities, proud of her son in every way. She loved shopping trips with Thuan and Mark, excited about her perspective finds. Her love for Henry was timeless; sticking by her vows of 'in sickness and in health', serving as his main caretaker at the end of his life. Helena loved and was loved greatly in return. She will be missed.
