James E. Meau

James E Meau, age 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Alfred V. and Cecilia A. (Burgess) Meau.  Jim was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1972.  Following his graduation, Jim went on to study hairstyling at the Arthur Angelo School of Hair Design in Providence, Rhode Island.

With his certificate in hand, Jim began his career working as a hair stylist.  He worked in various salons in the area, including Dellaria Salon in Norwood and Kenneth Wildes Hair Salon in Westwood.  After several years working as a stylist, Jim returned to his education, taking courses at the Henry O. Peabody School, Massasoit Community College, Framingham State College, and the University of Massachusetts at Boston, learning about information technology and networks.  In 1985, he ventured out on a new career path, taking a position with the Ravech, Aronson, Shuman & Lewis Law Firm, serving as the network administrator and office manager.  Eleven years later, Jim took his IT skill set to the accounting firm of Gray, Gray & Gray, serving as the network administrator through 2003.  Jim went on to make his home in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and eventually purchasing Beacon Hill Variety in 2006, which he operated until 2009.  More recently, Jim made his home on the South Shore, first in Duxbury and later in Kingston, where he served his community by accepting the role of Treasurer for the Kingston Housing Authority. Jim also took a position with Ocean State Job Lot, holding many supervisory roles and making countless friends between fellow employees and his customers.

When Jim wasn't hard at work, he loved to relax and unwind by catching up on his favorite television shows, especially Dr. Pol or anything to do with court and crime.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
