Janet Marie Turner

Janet Marie Turner, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while visiting Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine, with her family by her side. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 23, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Walsh) Galvin. Janet spent her early years in Quincy, Massachusetts before her family settled on Long Island. Prior to her junior year of high school, Janet and her family returned to Massachusetts, making their home in Norwood, where she graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1970. Following her graduation, Janet enrolled in courses at Framingham State College, earning her bachelor's degree in 1974. With her degree in hand, Janet began her teaching career at the Oldham Elementary School in Norwood.

Janet married her beloved husband, William Raymond Turner, Jr., on February 19, 1977, at Saint Timothy's Church in Norwood. A few years later in 1980, the couple made their home in South Walpole, and Janet took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her three children, Kerri, Kristen, and Stephen. Once Stephen was enrolled in school, Janet returned to teaching, taking a position with the South Walpole Community Preschool. She remained with the preschool for thirty-five years until her retirement in 2020.

Throughout her life, Janet loved to travel. She and Billy visited almost every state in the continental US, taking road trips every year. In the winter months, she looked forward to trips to their family ski club in North Conway, New Hampshire, which was endless fun! Summer vacations were spent with family at Kezar Lake in Maine. Janet and Billy often enjoyed watching the kids participate in water sports or taking a boat ride around the lake. Back at home in Walpole, Janet loved being surrounded by her family, hosting Friday night dinners for her children. She was delighted at the birth of her grandchildren, earning the title of Nana! Her grandchildren quickly became her world and as such she regularly adjusted family dinner nights around their schedules. She loved attending their games or events, proudly supporting all her grandchildren from the sidelines. Janet had a way of making Christmas incredibly special for her family, embodying the spirit of Christmas, with presents stacked higher than the tree.

Loving mother of Kerri A. LeBlanc and her husband, Kevin, of Wrentham, Kristen E. MacRae and her husband, Michael, of Norfolk, and Stephen W. Turner and his wife, Kerri, of Walpole.

Cherished grandmother of Halle, Will, Jake, Max, Emma, Katie, Lauren, Addie, and Alex.

Sister of Kathy Oberacker and her husband, Wayne, of Walpole, Donna Conley and her husband, James, of Walpole, Elaine Mantia and her husband, Bill, of Mansfield, Cheryl Poitras of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Christine Tomasello and her husband, Mike, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Jeanne Morrison and her husband, Bill, of Norwood, and John Galvin and his wife, Julie, of North Reading. Janet was blessed to be part of a large family, with countless loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Janet's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

Interment will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
