Janice Marie Godino

Janice M. (Bannon) Godino, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend and mom to David passed away on May 12, 2025, after a long illness. Born and raised on South Street in Walpole, Janice was a force of nature whose laughter, spirit, and zest for life lit up every room she entered.

Growing up, she filled her days with neighborhood games like stickball in the lumber yard and red rover with the local kids. Winters brought sledding adventures down the legendary "Killer Hill," a thrill she joyfully passed on to her nieces and nephews. Whether gathering with her sister Fran, her brother Mike, or their lifelong friend Jerry for a trip to Nantasket, Janice treasured her time at the beach. Her love for the ocean followed her throughout life with cherished vacations to Popponesset, Falmouth, and the Bahamas.

Janice loved to work with her father “Babe” on the '56 Chevy wagon in the garage; they also teamed up to fix the furnace in the middle of the night, and he rewarded her with summer trips to Art Johnson's for fried clams. These moments reflected the special bond they shared and the lessons in grit, humor, and love that shaped her into the unforgettable woman she became.

Janice worked at Siemens for 34 years, where she was known not just for her work ethic, but also for giving her boss a hard time and showing kindness toward her colleagues. Janice had a tough veneer but a soft side only the lucky few got to see.

She adored camping trips and the awe-inspiring sights and sounds of air shows. She was also a devoted fan of country music and classic TV, with a particular fondness for Grit TV marathons. Her favorite celebrities—Lee Majors, Burt Reynolds, and Tom Selleck—held a special place in her heart.

Janice loved Rebel Football and made sure the whole family gathered to cheer on her son David. Those days were some of her proudest and happiest times.

She also loved to go off-roading with her best friend Judy Johnson, and the two were famously known as “Thelma and Louise” to everyone who knew them. Whether tearing up the trails or getting into some good-natured mischief, they were inseparable partners in adventure.

Music and fun were at the core of Janice’s life. She could often be found dancing to Old Time Rock and Roll, belting out Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys, or leading the kids in an enthusiastic round of the Christmas classic Ring the Bell. Her laugh was legendary—bold, contagious, and unmistakable. For those lucky enough to meet Janice, it often felt like you’d known her forever. She had a gift for making strangers feel like old friends. When Janice arrived, a party wasn’t far behind.

Janice's life was a celebration of joy, friendship, and family, and her legacy will live on in the stories, songs, and laughter she shared so generously with everyone around her.

Loving mother of David Godino and his wife, Holly Meyer-Godino, of Attleboro and Joseph Godino of Massachusetts.

Devoted sister of Margaret "Marge" O'Neil and her late husband, Robert "Sparky", of Walpole, Frances "Fran" E. Cacciagrani and her husband, Dick, of Walpole, Marcia J. Rasciot and her late husband, James, of North Attleborough, the late Edward A. Bannon, the late Sylvia "Cissy" A. Smith and her surviving husband, Edward, of Wilmington, the late Michael F. Bannon and his surviving wife, Chrissy of Walpole, the late Alice Bannon, the late Thomas F. Bannon and his surviving wife, Claudette, of Medway, and the late John J. "Jackie" Bannon.
