John A. Bellanti

March 26, 1961 — February 24, 2021

John A. Bellanti, 59, of Wrentham, MA passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 after losing his battle with complications due to Multiple Myeloma.

John is survived by his loving wife JoAnn of 34 years, and daughter Michelle and her husband, Nick Foss, of Plainville.

He is the loving son to the late Lou and Patsy (Malloy) Bellanti, and his late in-laws John and Audrey (Whyte) Johnston.

John is the devoted brother of Francis of Braintree and sister- in- law Denise of Dedham, Michael and Jan of Virginia, James and Diane of New Hampshire; and brother- in- law of Jeanne and Kevin Murphy of Walpole, John and Jill Johnston of Wrentham, the late Carol Johnston, Dr. Joyce Neeser and her late husband, Stefan, of Sudbury and James Johnston of Vermont.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.

John was hired as a firefighter on May 5, 1994 and served the good people of Norwood for 25 years. He retired in July 2019 and was diagnosed with occupational cancer shortly thereafter. He was looking forward to his retirement years with JoAnn and planning his next adventure in life. He spent the majority of his career on Group 1 and very much enjoyed being a chef for his crew.

In his earlier years, John was a blaster for South Shore Drilling & Blasting before owning and operating his own business Bellanti Rock Splitting Company.

He loved his wife, family, friends, his Harley, fixing things, cooking, travelling, and hosting parties at his infamous Barn Bar.

John had a big, kind heart and made friends from all walks of life wherever he went with his outgoing personality and sincere interest in people. He loved having a good time and made everything he touched fun.

He was an avid world traveler with his wife.  He had visited almost every Caribbean Island and he was proud of that. His nickname was Calabash. His favorite island was Jamaica and he always said it was because of the people there.

John will be dearly missed by all.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend John’s Life Celebration on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

As a result of the ongoing and ever developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, John's family has decided that his funeral mass will take place privately in Saint Mary’s Church in Wrentham with interment taking place in Wrentham Center Cemetery.  Those who wish to view John's Mass may do so on Saint Mary's YouTube page at www.bit.ly/youtubePWC on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
