John Patrick Sullivan

November 27, 1953 — March 1, 2020

John Patrick Sullivan, age 66, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Sunday, March 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on November 27, 1953, he was the son of the late John F. and Claire T. (Fanning) Sullivan.  He was raised in the Hough’s Neck area of Quincy and attended Atherton Hough Elementary School and Broad Meadows Junior High School, before graduating from Quincy High School with the Class of 1972.  Following his graduation, John took off for Florida, finding work in the HVAC field.  About a years later, he returned to Quincy and after meeting some friends, he began working alongside them in their restaurant, The Pilgrim.  He went on to take a job delivering meat with his friend Howie.

John married his beloved wife, Jill E. Chambers, on February 4, 1984 at the Christian Life Center in Walpole. Together they made their home in Norfolk, Massachusetts, and John continued working on the meat truck.  A few years later, he took a job with Entenmenn’s Bakery, delivering cakes, before finding his true passion as a Pastor in the late 1980s.  His first pastoral position was with Bethany Assembly of God, serving as an associate pastor.  He and Jill, along with friends, went on to pioneer The Church of Abundant Life in Braintree before branching out on their own to form The Tri-County Full Gospel Fellowship in Franklin.  As a man of great faith, he was available to anyone who needed spiritual guidance, always finding a way to build them up.  A shining example of his people building skills is the inspirational talk he had with a woman named Cheri McCutchen.  Their talk led her to develop “The Happy Place,” an organization devoted to helping children with special needs.  In addition to serving his community as a pastor, John worked as the general manager of Kiessling Transit in Norfolk for twenty years.

When John wasn’t hard at work, he looked forward to planning family vacations and road trips, that usually centered around his favorite buffet stop, The Golden Corral.  Back at home, he enjoyed fishing with his son, Daniel and spending time on his patio, surrounded by his whole family.
