Joseph Arthur Valiquette, Sr.

Oct 15, 1925 — Jan 10, 2019

Joseph Arthur Valiquette, Sr., age 93, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Thursday, January 10, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Emily E. (Ellis) Valiquette.  He was raised in the Roxbury area of Boston and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School with the Class of 1943, where he met his wife to be, Theresa V. Keilty.  Following graduation, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country during World War II.  He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operation, taking part in the Battle of Iwo Jima.  Joe was honorably discharged in November of 1945, returning home to Boston and his beloved Theresa.

Joe and Theresa were married on June 26, 1948 and made their home together in Roxbury.  Following his discharge, Joe found work at the Whiting Milk Company in Charlestown, allowing him to purchase a home in Dedham in the early 1950s, where he raised his family.  In 1960, Joe took a position with the Stop and Shop Supermarket Company, working at their Readville location.  As a dedicated worker, Joe eventually became a production manager in the dairy department before his retirement in 1987.

Joe’s solid work ethic followed him home, as he could regularly be found caring for his yard and completing various projects around his house that required his attention.  He was very fond of his cars over the years, taking time out of his Saturdays to be sure his car was washed and polished to his liking.  Joe enjoyed some quiet time as well, as an avid reader, he enjoyed catching up on local news and politics.  As a lifelong Boston sports fan, Joe loved following the Red Sox and Patriots.
