Judith Agnes Wentworth

October 2, 1936 — February 20, 2022

Judith Agnes Ahern Wentworth, “Judy”, was born on October 2, 1936, to Henry James Ahern and Blanche Marie Boutin Ahern in Arlington, Massachusetts. Twelve years later, she became a big sister to her brother Stephen Ahern.

Judy grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School, where she met her husband, Frank, and their many friends. Judy and Frank were married on August 31, 1957 and spent 63 amazing years together. Judy was extremely proud of her relationship with Catholic Charities, through whom she and Frank adopted their three children, Gary, Cara, and Mark. Judy was also a devoted grandmother to William and Jackson and was a beloved “mom” to many adored pets while raising her family.

After her husband joined the U.S. Marine Corps, Judy and Frank spent several years living in North Carolina and California, where they developed life-long friendships with many people. After Frank’s honorable discharge, the couple returned to Massachusetts, where they raised their family, developing and instilling strong family bonds between aunts, cousins, and grandparents. Holidays and weekends found the family spending time with extended family and close friends, and Judy excelled in providing a stable and loving home for her family.

Judy worked at the Prudential Life Insurance Company in Boston after graduating with an Associate Degree from Lasalle Junior College. She then devoted her life to raising her children and subsequently spending as much time as possible with her adored grandchildren, while also working part-time, first at Cherry Webb and Touraine, followed by office management positions at select orthodontic offices.

The hallmark of Judy’s life is in the friendships she developed and in her roles as wife and mother. She built a wonderful life for her children and had many life-long friendships. Judy was a beautiful woman who was skilled in the art of graceful presentation. She appreciated fashion and enjoyed the comradery found while getting her hair done. She was a very kind and generous woman, and a woman of strength who battled breast cancer for over 8 years.

Judy is predeceased by her husband Frank and is survived by her son Gary and his husband, Sasha, daughter Cara and her partner Dave and two grandchildren, William and Jackson, son Mark, brother Stephen and his wife Liz, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 9:30 - 12:00 at James H. Delaney and Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, MA. Mom will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, at 1:45 p.m. that afternoon.
