Katharine Anne Young

Katharine Anne Young, age 84, of Canton, MA, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Katharine was born on March 12, 1942, in Boston, MA, to George and Dorothy Young. She was a woman of quiet strength, kindness, and warmth, and those who knew her will remember the way she made others feel—welcomed, cared for, and deeply loved.

Katharine devoted her professional life to nursing, a career that reflected her natural compassion and selflessness. She cared for others with patience and dignity, bringing comfort not only through her skill, but through the genuine kindness she extended to every person she encountered. After raising her family, she earned her Master’s Degree in Holistic Nursing at Lesley University—an accomplishment she was deeply proud of and one that reflected her lifelong commitment to caring for others in a thoughtful and meaningful way.

In addition to her work in nursing, Katharine was also an author of two published books, Grandmother Moon and Seeing without Seeing, through which she shared her insight, creativity, and unique perspective with others.

Katharine had a gift for bringing people together and making each person feel special. Some of her happiest moments were spent in New Hampshire, at Hamilton Beach, and on Cape Cod—places that held special meaning for her and will forever carry her spirit.

She is survived by her children, Tracy (Anthony), Jon T (Peggy), and Julie (John); her cherished grandchildren, Allie (Chris), Ryan (Kate), Zoë, Matt, Tori, Cara, Olivia, Dan, Gus, and Bryon; her beloved great-grandchildren, Margot and Frederick; and she is also lovingly remembered by her cousin Priscilla; her dear friends Carolyn, Mary, Debbie, Claudette, Kathy, Mary Jane, Carol, Susan and Linda; along with extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Young and her brothers George and Tommy.

Our family is grateful for the extraordinary care provided by the staff at Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton. Their warmth, respect, and genuine compassion meant so much to Katharine and to all of us during this time.

A celebration of Katharine’s life and a Mass of Christian burial at St Mary’s Parish in East Walpole will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of your choice in her honor.

Katharine’s love will remain a steady presence in the hearts of all who knew her.
