Kirk Geoffrey Madge, age 71, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 after a brave fight. Born in Westwood, Massachusetts on March 3, 1955, he was the son of John and Lorraine E. (Baer) Madge. Kirk was raised in Westwood and graduated from Westwood High School with the class of 1973, and later moved to Walpole, Massachusetts in 1978 where he raised his own family.
In his youth, Kirk loved the outdoors and was a Boy Scout. He also served as an Acolyte at St. John's Church in Westwood where his grandparents joined as founding members. In high school he ran track and later worked as a lifeguard.
After high school, Kirk found his professional calling in automotive sales, and excelled at it. He often said, “I never sold a car, but I helped a lot of people find what they needed.”
Kirk's real passion in life was his family. One of seven children, Kirk remained close with his siblings as they began families of their own. Kirk ensured that his children, Vanessa and Jonathan, grew up knowing his side of the family. Sundays were often spent together at his parents’ house, three generations gathering for dinner together, with countless seats at the table.
Everyone who knew Kirk well, said he became happiest as a father. Kirk worked hard to ensure his children had a great childhood, great experiences and always made sure holidays were big family events, creating ample happy memories. The Walpole July 3rd fireworks, Christmas and New Year’s Eve were extra special occasions.
When it was time for his children to get their own licenses and cars, Kirk was proud to teach them to drive, and to continue his expertise in the auto industry. He made sure “to help them find what they needed (the perfect first safe car),” just like he did with so many others.
Kirk always worked very hard and his children were incredibly proud of him. This included changing careers in his mid 50’s and passing his series 7 insurance broker license test.
Whether it was being a caring brother to his siblings, ensuring his kids had everything they needed, or helping close family friends, Kirk was a caring man who loved his Family.
Every summer, Kirk continued a family tradition by bringing his kids to Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine. Kirk would spend hours building sandcastles and digging holes with them, all dressed in his iconic beach outfit - a pair of black penny loafers, faded jeans, and a work polo. At home, Kirk would take the kids on local adventures; bowling, mini golfing, or doing whatever activity they were interested in at that point. He took time to learn about their hobbies and encouraged his kids to pursue their interests and dreams. Kirk was a dependable, funny, and loving Dad. He taught his children the importance of a strong work ethic as well as how to be a good friend to all.
Kirk loved American history; was a great story teller himself, and loved reminiscing about the “the good old days”. Almost every story was about the family being together. In his free time, Kirk enjoyed watching Westerns. A social butterfly, Kirk loved chatting with people and making friends. He was generous and helpful, sometimes to his own detriment, willing to show up for those he loved at a moment’s notice. He will be greatly missed.
