Laurance Paul "Laury" Johnson

July 26, 1955 — June 3, 2019

Laurance Paul “Laury” Johnson, age 63, passed away in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, June 3, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 26, 1955, he was the son of the late John A. and Jean (Dunlop) Johnson.  As a lifelong resident of Walpole, Laury graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1973.  While in high school, Laury found his passion for cars, working at Fred C. Brown Ford in Walpole.  Following his graduation, he took a position with Walpole Automotive in the center of town.

Laury married his beloved wife, Lucinda M. “Cindy” Plotegher, on July 28, 1979 in Blessed Sacrament Church. The young couple made their home together in Walpole, where they welcomed their two daughters, Jessica and Michele.  Laury continued working at Walpole Automotive, joining their bowling team at Petracca’s Lanes in Walpole.  He retired from Walpole Collision in March of this year, after many years of dedicated service.

Laury’s love for cars grew over the years to become a passion for anything with a motor, driving him to regularly attend area car shows.  He spent countless hours in his “shrine” working on his antique truck, motorcycle, and race car.  As race day approached at the Seekonk Speedway, Laury would spend extra time in his garage working on his race car, always ensuring it was in perfect shape to travel around the track.  His passion did not end with road and track vehicles, as he even took the time to recondition his John Deere ride on mower to reflect his own taste.

While Laury was passionate about cars, trucks, and motorcycles, his greatest love was his family.  As a man who loved the water, he traveled to Maine often as a young man to fish with his father in law and after welcoming his own children, Laury brought his family to Humarock to spend time at the beach.  Back at home, he treasured the moments he spent with his grandchildren.  He was known as the family jokester, sharing his great sense of humor with everyone he met.  Laury will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him, including his dog, Petey, and his cat, Mama.

Beloved husband of Lucinda M. “Cindy” Johnson.
Loving father of Jessica A. Johnson of Attleboro and Michele L. Johnson of Walpole.
Cherished grandfather of Kaleigh Patricia McLaughlin, Hailey Johnson, and Skye Webber.
Devoted son of the late John A. and Jean (Dunlop) Johnson.
