Lawrence J. Bastianelli, Jr.

Lawrence J. Bastianelli Jr. met Lucille T. Tarallo in 1962 at her high school graduation party in Hyde Park, MA. They married in 1966, and, as always, Lucille was at Larry’s side when he took his last breath on June 8, 2026, just 10 days shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Larry passed surrounded by family at Boston’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He was 82.

Larry’s legacy includes his enduring love for family, his commitment to teaching, and his skills as a contractor.

Besides Lucille, Larry is survived by loving daughters Lisa Bastianelli and her husband, Paul Moccia, of Walpole, MA; and Anne Marie (Bastianelli) Rosa and her husband, Rich Rosa, of Haverhill, MA; son, Lawrence J. Bastianelli III and his wife Anne, of West Palm Beach, FL; and younger sister, Loraine (Bastianelli) Riggins. Larry left three grandsons whom he adored: Lawrence J. Bastianelli IV, Richard J. Rosa Jr., and Philip H. Rosa II. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Melissa Conlon, of Long Island, NY, as well as a niece, three nephews, cousins, and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence J. Bastianelli, Sr., and Catherine (Cataldo) Bastianelli, whom he lived next door to for over 35 years.

Larry and Lucille loved vacationing in St. Maarten, enjoying the Caribbean island yearly for more than 25 years.

Larry lived in Roslindale, or “God’s Country,” as Larry called it, for 79 years, at various times on either Gardenside Street or Grew Avenue, before moving to Walpole three years ago. He served for several years as an altar boy at Sacred Heart Church.

Larry graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston and later taught electronics, math, and science at his alma mater for 33 years. He also served as Dean of Discipline. He loved teaching and mentoring students, many of whom he stayed in touch with. He also attended Northeastern University.

After learning the fundamentals at Don Bosco, he expanded his skills and knowledge as a contractor over many years. He started L. Bastianelli, Inc. in 1974 and proudly served his customers right up until this past April. Before starting L. Bastianelli, Inc., Larry worked at Raytheon Technologies during the summers on technologies used in the Apollo space missions.

Larry’s funeral is Monday, June 15, 2026, at 8 a.m. from James H. Delaney Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, 4750 Washington Street, West Roxbury, MA.
