Lawrence Joseph Hogan, longtime resident of Walpole MA as well as Palm Harbor FL passed away peacefully Saturday October 21, 2023 with his family by his side. Larry was the beloved husband of the late Lucinda (Newell), loving father to Michael and his wife Mary and Keith and his wife Elena, and cherished grandfather to Kayla and her husband Peter, Jill, Zachary, Rachel and Maria. He is also survived by his brother Terrance and wife Ruth, as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry loved his family and cherished every moment he could spend with them.
Larry was raised in East Walpole MA. He was proud of his roots and talked for hours about his fond memories of growing up across from Bird Park. An avid athlete, Larry never met a sport he did not like to play or watch. He played hockey in high school and went on to coach both his sons in baseball. Later in life, Larry enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and he continued his love for sports as a golf enthusiast.
Larry was the ultimate Irish storyteller and enjoyed many holidays and get togethers when he would share his lively stories with friends and family. He spent his career as a sales person and particularly enjoyed working alongside his brother Terry at Hogie Bear Snacks. He also ran his own snack food business which allowed him the opportunity to work with his wife, and his sons. The favorite part of his work was interacting with his many customers and doing whatever he could to make them happy.
When his beloved wife passed, Larry moved to Florida. There he became an active volunteer in the church. He became a Eucharistic minister and the primary volunteer cook in the church kitchen. He spent many days making meals for parishioners and for various church fundraisers and activities. He was close with the Bishop and was relied upon to lend a helping hand when needed.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Larry's Life Celebration on Friday, October 27th, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
