Lily Arling

Lily Arling passed away peacefully at home, in the presence of her beloved husband, Bert, and son, Matthias, on Monday morning, May 30, 2022. Born in 1931, she was the daughter of Anthony Willemsen and Johanna Willemsen Sterkx. The family resided in Indonesia, a true paradise as Dutch Indonesians will remember. In 1952, the family moved to the Netherlands and Lily continued her secretarial jobs with Internatio in Rotterdam. 

Lily is survived by her husband Bert, and son, Matthias. She was the sister of the late Irene Jacquart, Jack Willemsen, Dorothy Willemsen, Richard Willemsen, and Ronald Willemsen. 

Lily met her husband Bert in Rotterdam, and they married in 1965. Their son Matthais was born in 1967 and by then Lily decided to become a skincare specialist. She graduated from the well-known Hermans Academy. 

In 1973, Lily, Bert, and Matthais moved to Walpole, where Lily opened her “Skin Care by Lily” business. For 30 years Lily had a successful business with many loyal clients from as far away as New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Cape Cod and Worcester. 

Lily was very devoted to her family; it was the most important part of her life. This devotion extended also to her mother and siblings, nieces, and nephews. 

Bert and Lily also had the opportunity to travel within the US and she enjoyed vacations in the several European countries. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Lily’s visitation on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

All are invited to gather in the funeral home on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 9:30 AM, prior to Lily’s Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Timothy’s Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
