Lina DeRose

Lina DeRose of Walpole passed peacefully at home on December 10, 2022, culminating a full and rewarding 86 years of life, love and family. 

Lina was the oldest of three children to Francesco and Christina Ortale.  Born and raised in Belsito, Italy.  This was the place she met her husband of sixty years, the late Salvatore John DeRose.

Lina and Sal met while Sal was stationed overseas serving in the United States Air Force. After a whirlwind romance, they wed in Lina’s hometown and eventually settled in Walpole, MA.  They built a family spanning four generations where Lina was the foundation.  Their home in Walpole where they lived for 54 years, was always open and everyone called her Mom.

Throughout Lina’s entire life, family was always of the upmost importance to her.  Lina is survived by devoted and saddened family including her two siblings Nino Ortale and his wife Pupa of Cosenza, Italy and Maria Ortale of Milan, Italy; her three children, Joseph DeRose and wife Catherine of North Attleboro, Stephen DeRose of Boston and Christina DeRose of Bow NH; six grandchildren, Amy Cotter and husband Tyler of Bow, NH, Lacey DeRose of Pembroke Pine Florida, Andrew Colquitt of Concord NH, Keara Martin and husband Benjamin of Greenfield NH, James Colquitt of Bow NH, and John Colquitt of Concord NH; two great grandchildren Mason Cotter and Matteo Martin;
as well as two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, mostly in and around the greater Boston area.

The family held private services to celebrate Lina’s life and honor her wishes.
