Lois Elizabeth (Dahlstrom) Benson, age 98, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at The Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, Massachusetts. She was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, on October 5, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Oskar Fred and Anna Elivira (Kallstrom) Dahlstrom. Lois spent her early childhood in Norwood before her family moved to the nearby town of Walpole, where she graduated from Walpole High School in 1946. Lois married her loving husband, Richard Henry Benson, on April 15, 1950, at the United Church in Walpole. They made their home on Page Avenue, where they raised two sons, Glenn and Mark. During the early years, Lois embraced her role as a homemaker, caring for her boys with love and devotion. Once her sons were older, she resumed her career, working at the corporate office of Bird and Son until she retired in 1982.
In her younger days, Lois was passionate about bowling, competing in candlepin leagues at the Highway Bowl-A-Way on Route 1 in East Walpole. Later in life, she picked up golf and enjoyed playing at the Franklin Country Club, where she made many wonderful friends in the clubhouse along with spending time on the course. Lois was also an enthusiastic traveler, exploring many countries in Europe such as Italy, France, Portugal and Scotland. She also loved visiting many parts of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
