Lorraine Christine Stuart

July 24, 1945 — August 29, 2022

Lorraine Christine (Harris) Stuart, age 77, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, Massachusetts.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harold Leo and Helen (O'Brien) Harris.  She spent her early years in Jamaica Plain before departing for California with her family.  After several years in California, Lorraine's family returned to the east coast, initially making their home in the Hyde Park area of Boston, before settling back in Jamaica Plain.  Lorraine went on to graduate from Jamaica Plain High School with the Class of 1963 and began her working career coding checks with Shawmut Bank.  In addition to working in the bank, Lorraine held a part time position driving Yellow Cab School Buses.

Lorraine met her husband to be, John F. Stuart, while visiting a friend in Mission Hill.  They were married on December 22, 1966, and made their home together in Jamaica Plain.  After settling into their home, Lorraine took a position with Rest Haven Nursing Home on Fisher Avenue in Mission Hill, beginning her career as a recreational therapist.  In 1977, she took her skills to the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and began taking courses at Northeastern University to earn her certificate.  A year later, Lorraine and John made their home in West Roxbury, and in 1989 the couple left the city, settling in the quiet suburban town of Walpole.

Throughout her life, Lorraine looked forward to attending various concerts, and was especially excited when Elton John came to town.  Back at home, she loved preparing meals in her kitchen, testing out new recipes from her many cookbooks or a recipe printed in the Globe or Herald.

Beloved wife of John F. Stuart.

Devoted sister of Harold Harris of West Roxbury and Bernadette Ogrins of Hyde Park.

Also survived by her many loving cousins.

At the request of Lorraine's family, all services will be private.
