Louis Rocco LoRusso

Louis Rocco “Lou” LoRusso, age 69, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 20, 1957, he was the son of the late Rocco and Helen (Mitchell) LoRusso.

Lou was the beloved husband of Margaret P. “Peggy” Kennedy, who was the love of his life. They met on a beautiful fall day in 1992 in Boston and were married in 1994. They built a beautiful life together, with their children Lauren LoRusso of Jamaica Plain, Meredith LoRusso of Norton, and Ryan LoRusso of Walpole. They all raised their cherished dog Dunkin together, and were all by Dunkin’s side when he passed, just six days before Lou.

Lou was larger than life, with a quick wit and an infectious smile. Everybody who had the privilege of meeting him loved him instantly, including his customers at Roche Brothers where he worked for 25+ years as a butcher, sharing his wisdom and expertise in the kitchen. His family can attest - regardless of where they ventured together, Lou always ran into a familiar face to introduce to them.

Lou’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He shared his fun-loving spirit and creativity with them every day. They traveled the world together, from Ireland to Spain to Banff National Park, and regularly visited spots they hold near and dear to their hearts, including Mayflower Beach in Cape Cod, and the cabins in Jefferson, New Hampshire. It was in Jefferson that the family adopted the moose as a sort of mascot, symbolizing the time they spent together and the love they shared. Lou took immense pride in building and tending to the fire while his family and friends sat around it sharing stories and laughter. One of Lou’s last wishes was to spend time at Santa’s Village in Jefferson with his family, a place that holds a lifetime of wonderful memories for them all. It was a fantastic and meaningful day that the family will look back on forever.

In the last few months of his life, Lou made the absolute most of his time. His friends were an important part of his life and he prioritized seeing everyone he loved with the time he had left. He enjoyed countless trips to get ice cream, meals with friends, and hugs with family, including his beloved sister Joanne Tranford of Dorchester. He spent so much time doing his favorite things with his family, like fishing, watching movies, and making ill-timed jokes. We would be remiss not to mention Lou’s sense of humor - it lives on through his family, and always will.

What will not live on through them, and what they will need to adjust to, is that Lou was the ultimate fix-it man. From homework to school projects, from home repairs to cooking tips, from mowing the lawn to cleaning the pool, Lou somehow knew how to do everything. He taught his children how to advocate for and believe in themselves, ensuring that they know they are capable of anything they set their minds to. They will miss his wisdom, guidance, and know-how immensely.

Lou is also survived by his brother John LoRusso of Roslindale, and the late Joseph LoRusso, whom he missed every day. Lou is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends as well.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Lou’s visitation on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Monday, August 10th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place privately at Terrace Hill Cemetery in Walpole.
