Louise E. Gaffney

September 7, 1937 — May 29, 2021

Louise E. (Nelson) Gaffney, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 7, 1937, she was the daughter of the late C. Howard and June (Waterman) Nelson.  She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts where she graduated from Walpole High School, Class of 1955.

Louise met her beloved husband, George T. Gaffney, by chance while roller skating at Norwood Rollerland.  Just after her graduation from high school, Louise married George on June 26, 1955.  Together, they made their home in East Walpole, where Louise took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for their four children

Once the youngest was off to school, Louise began her working career with Sears and Roebuck in Norwood.  Later taking secretarial positions with CompRep Associates in Westwood, Plymouth Rubber in Canton and finally retiring from BLH Electronics in Canton in 2000, after fifteen years of dedicated service as an administrative assistant.  In her retirement, Louise and George enjoyed spending time between their homes in Marion, MA and Bonita Springs, Florida, which later became their full-time residence.

Louise was involved in her community, serving for many years as a Girl Scout Leader and member of the Catholic Women's Club at Saint Mary's Church, and was involved in the planning of her Walpole High School Class Reunions.

When Louise wasn't hard at work or volunteering in her community, she enjoyed spending time at their homes in East Walpole and Mountonboro, New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee.  She also enjoyed the ocean while away on vacation on St Maarten or Hawaii or off on one of their adventures to Alaska, the Panama Canal, Ireland or across the US following Rt 66.  When not working, Louise was an avid reader.  She could be found curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.  More than anything, Louise loved being surrounded by her family, regularly playing the organ in her home for all to enjoy.
