Luigi Gioioso

January 25, 1934 — May 7, 2021

Luigi Gioioso, age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home in Walpole, MA, surrounded by his loving family.  Born and raised in the small village of Viano in Filetto, Italy on January 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Pelino and Giovanna (D'Amore) Gioioso.

Luigi developed his strong work ethic at a young age and served in the Alpini Italian Military.  In November of 1960, Luigi immigrated to the United States, making his home in Dorchester and finding work as a contractor with local construction companies.  In 1962, Luigi and four of his brothers founded P. Gioioso & Sons, Inc, a General Construction Contractor based in Hyde Park.

In January, 1968, Luigi met the love of his life, Grazia.  They were married on October 27, 1968 in East Boston and made their home together in Watertown, MA, where the couple welcomed three children, Gino, Marco, and Lora.  In 1980, he purchased land in Walpole, MA, built his dream home, and took such joy in his garden and peach orchard.

Luigi loved to garden, make wine, hunt, travel, and socialize with friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and his 10 grandchildren.  They were his world and he was so proud of them.  His legacy will be carried on by each and every one of them.

Beloved husband of Grazia (Gangi) Gioioso.
Loving father of Gino Gioioso and his wife, Mary-Ellen, of Walpole, Marco Gioioso and his wife, Christine, of Walpole, and Lora Crouch and her husband, George, of Ashburn, Virginia.  Cherished Nonno of Lindsay Gioioso, Ashley Gioioso, Gracey Gioioso, Gino Gioioso, Jr., Marco Gioioso Jr., Daniel Gioioso, Ava Gioioso, Alexa Crouch, Jacob Crouch, and Logan Crouch.
Brother of Giuseppe Gioioso of Braintree, Ferrante Gioioso of Braintree, Maria DiNanno of Norwood, Francesco Gioioso of Walpole, Elena Adgate of Braintree, the late Enrico Gioioso, the late Tommaso Gioioso, the late Filomena Colasante, and the late Mario Gioioso.
Devoted son in law of Grazia Gangi of East Boston.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Luigi's visitation on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 3 to 9 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Luigi's family has decided that his funeral mass will be private, with entombment taking place in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
