Margaret “Peg” Agnes Brissette, age 84, passed away surrounded by loving family on October 15, 2026 at her home in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 19, 1942, she was the daughter of Vincent and Barbara (Ford) Kilduff.
Peg grew up in Providence where she attended Blessed Sacrament School, graduating in 1956 and St. Patrick’s High School, graduating in 1959. Until the time of her death, Peg continued to meet with up with classmates from Blessed Sacrament a few times a year.
During a night at Bobby’s Rollaway in Pawtucket, Peg met William Richardson. They were completely taken with one another, and after a whirlwind romance, they were married within the year, on October 4th, 1960. They settled in Woonsocket, and had two children, Kate and Bill Jr. A working mother, she spent 23 years as a Neuro Physiology Technician at Woonsocket Hospital (now Landmark Hospital). As with all things in her life, Peg got involved in more than just the work, and she organized twice-yearly employee bus trips to New York City.
A devastating car accident would leave Bill disabled, but Peg never failed to provide for her family. Balancing two or three jobs at a time to put food on the table, she never faltered in her duties as a loving wife and mother, despite the additional pressure of being the breadwinner. Her children fondly remember her home cooked meals of chicken salad and shepherd’s pie, even if every meal seemed to bring a snowstorm right after. Peg tirelessly took care of her children and Bill until his passing in 1983. She led her home with a strength and poise that her family and friends carry with them to this day.
Peg was also a woman with a deep faith in God. She was an active parishioner at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs in Woonsocket. Along with teaching CCD and Confirmation classes, she was a lector and volunteered her time generously to put on the Catholic Charity Fund Appeal Drive and the yearly parish carnival. It was at Mass at Our Lady Quenn of Martyrs that she met Raymond Brissette, who would become her husband on November 22, 1988. She remained a devoted member of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs.
She spent a further 20 years working at the VA in Providence before finally retiring with Ray at her side. Together, they enjoyed traveling anywhere warm, with cruises being a favorite of the couple. When home in Woonsocket, Peg could be found enjoying her morning coffee, completing crosswords with such skill that she filled them out in pen. She was an avid crocheter and loved putting together puzzles, with the Antiques Road Show playing in the background. She had an abundance of friends and never turned down an invitation to breakfast with Beverly, Shirley, Gerilyn, Sue, Connie and Rita. Prior to the death of her friend Bella Menard, it was common to find them playing the card game Go or shopping for deals at Sallie’s.
Peg was endlessly proud of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lovingly known as "Nana Peg", she could be found at every sporting event, graduation, and dance recitals, and was always happy to host sleepovers or deliver donuts on request. Most of all, Peg was always happy to remind her family- “I love you a bushel and a peck.” She will be deeply missed.
Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Richardson Sr. and the late Raymond “Ray” Brissette.
Loving mother of Kate (Kathy) Delaney and her husband Jay of Walpole, Massachusetts, and Bill Richardson and his wife Lynn of Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Cherished grandmother of Brian Collin of Florida, Sean Collin and his wife Dani of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, Erin Murphy and her partner Darryn Piotrowski of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Carolyn Grande and her husband Giovanni of Cranston, Rhode Island, Matthew Richardson of Smithfield, Rhode Island, James L.
