Marilyn Anne Paley, age 81, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary V. (Concannon) Barnes. She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, attending Walpole High School, where she was an enthusiastic member of the cheerleading squad before her graduation with the Class of 1958. Following her graduation, Marilyn took a position with Howard Johnson's on Route 1 in Walpole and later began working in the IBM Department of the Masoneilan Valve Company in Norwood.
While in high school, Marilyn took notice of a good looking young man by the name of Dean A. Paley on American Bandstand, whom she met after her friend made the connection. Dean came to a Walpole High School football game and saw Marilyn in her cheerleading uniform and it was love at first sight. Marilyn and Dean were married on June 4, 1960 in the United Church of Walpole, and initially made their home in South Walpole. A year later, the couple moved to Marilyn's childhood home, where she took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family, in addition to caring for her own parents. While her family always came first, in 1966, Marilyn and Dean enjoyed a road trip all throughout Canada in his 1965 Ford Mustang.
Throughout her life, Marilyn was known for her immaculate home, taking care of the inside and the flower gardens outside. She enjoyed her quiet time too, working on various crocheting projects. Most of all, she was dedicated to her family, friends, and faith. Her children were the light of her life, always putting their needs before her own. She was delighted to see her family grow over the years, taking trips to weddings in both Arizona and Florida, and was overjoyed at the birth of her grandchildren. Most recently, Marilyn and Dean made their home in Warwick, Rhode Island to be closer to their family.
