Marjorie Ann Cull

Marjorie Ann (Laffer) Cull, age 86, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Aspire Rehab in Walpole, Massachusetts with her loving daughter by her side. Born in Columbus, Ohio on August 27, 1938, she was the daughter of Cornelius Callender Laffer and Jean (Herbison) Laffer. Marjorie was raised in Columbus and attended North High School. She continued her studies after graduating from high school, attending Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. With her degree in hand, Marjorie set off to Seacliff, New York, with her husband (Stanton Cull) where she accepted a position as an English teacher.

In 1966 Marjorie moved to Walpole, Massachusetts where she would raise her family. She held a variety of jobs over the years, including as a receptionist and a waitress. This allowed her to be home with her daughter and the family pets and to be active in her faith community. The flexibility also allowed her to spend some time every summer at Camp Dennen on Cape Cod, a retreat that she loved because of the wonderful friends she had there. Marjorie's spiritual home was at the Epiphany Parish in Walpole. She was a devoted parishioner who embraced every volunteer role and joined in any activity that she could, including as a member of the Alter Guild and choir, as a lay reader, running the jewelry table at the church fair, coordinating community dinners, and more. Marjorie loved the fellowship she found at the church and looked forward to every sermon, Bible study, and event.

Marjorie made the move to Plainville, Massachusetts in 1992 and began attending services at the nearby Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She quickly became involved in the church, devoting time to the Alter Guild, Library, Choir, Bible studies and joining the newly formed bell choir as well as being a regular parishioner.

Marjorie spent much of her free time participating in church activities, as she found so much joy in her faith. She was also a longtime member of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross (Charles River Chapter) at Adelynrood, treasuring her time with her friends during their retreats during her volunteer times at the hostess desk. At home, Marjorie enjoyed gardening, her home surrounded by her well-manicured hydrangea and lilac bushes as well as a variety of colorful irises, daffodils and mint. She was a fantastic knitter, making Christmas stockings for her daughter and grandchildren that they all continue to use today. Marjorie was an avid reader, often curling up with a delightful book with one of her cats by her side. She also enjoyed watching the news and was a self-proclaimed news and weather junkie. Like any true New England sports fan, Marjorie made sure to catch the Red Sox and Patriot's games when they were playing- that is unless The Ohio State Football happened to be on at the same time. She loved college football and rooted on her home team with enthusiasm. Marjorie was a Buckeye until her last breath - and then some - loyal to The Ohio State team her entire life.

Cherished grandmother of Thomas Matthew Wendtland, Rebecca Caterine Wendtland, and Arwen Marie Wendtland.

Sister of the late Barbara Jean Platt and her late husband Charles.

Also survived by her nephew Ron Platt, her dear friends Ginny, Kay, Joy, Jackie, Reverend Maryalice Sullivan and many more.

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend Marjorie's memorial service on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 62 Front Street, Walpole. Time is to be determined and will be updated on this obituary and the church website closer to the service. Interment will be private at the family plot at the Greendale Cemetery, Meadville PA.
