Mary Frances "Fran" Blaney, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Seasons of Danvers, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary Frances (Fitzgibbon) Blaney. Fran spent her early years in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, before her family settled in Walpole, Massachusetts when she was ten. While living in Walpole, Fran attended the public schools and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1960. Following her graduation, Fran enrolled in courses at the Chandler School in Boston and graduated with the Class of 1962.
Fran took her first full-time job with the Northrup Corporation at their Norwood location, working as a secretary. Five years later, Fran accepted a position with Electrodyne in Sharon, where she took on the role of an executive secretary. While working with Electrodyne, Fran moved to the neighboring town of Foxborough in 1977, continuing to work for the company until 1985. Fran's career later took her to Franklin, where she served as an executive secretary at Thermo Environmental Instruments until her retirement in 1994.
While Fran worked hard, she always made time for some fun. She looked forward to many vacations over the years, visiting Florida, and countless destinations in Europe. Fran also enjoyed touring the world on the deck of a cruise ship, setting sail for adventures abroad. On most of her trips, she was accompanied by her family, making wonderful memories along the way. Back at home, Fran maintained a close-knit group of friends that kept in regular contact and had standing weekly lunch reservations.
Most of all, Fran was devoted to her family, treasuring the moments she spent with those she loved. The weekends were exclusively dedicated to her family, remaining close with her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. In 2006, Fran moved back home to Walpole, helping to care for her aging mother. Fran and her Mom were truly best friends and it brought everyone in the family great comfort to know that their big sister was by their Mom's side. After her Mom passed, Fran moved back to Foxborough, and more recently in 2019, she settled into her home at Seasons of Danvers. Fran’s family is grateful for the loving care she received from Seasons of Danvers and Care Dimensions.
