Mary Angela Melzar, 61, of Wrentham Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her home Monday evening surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on May 18, 1964 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, the daughter of Aurora (née Savoia) and Raymond Melzar. She was the youngest of nine, having been raised among seven sisters and one brother.
Mary is survived by her siblings Theresa Melzar, Pamela Makudera, Karen Bianco, Christine Melzar-Malmquist, and Raymond Melzar, in addition to her beloved in-laws Eva Melzar and Dennis Hebner. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Aurora and Raymond Melzar, as well as her sisters Gerilyn Melzar, Linda Carlough, and Martha Hebner.
For most of her life, Mary lived with her loving mother and father. In 2005, Mary moved into her forever home on Creek Street in Wrentham, where she made lifelong friends with roommates and house staff.
Mary was employed at Lifeworks in Westwood for 17 years (1996-2013). She was famous for showing off her weekly paychecks and offering to buy anyone she loved a brand new car. After her retirement from the work force, Mary stayed busy attending day program at Open Sky from 2014 up until her death.
In her free time, Mary enjoyed watching old television shows, playing Wii games with her nieces, going to Dunkin Donuts, listening to Michael Jackson, and flirting with anyone she fancied.
Mary lived life the fullest. She loved showing affection and making people laugh. She was happiest spending time with her family, especially when it involved sharing a meal together. Mary was endlessly proud to be a sister and an aunt, and she never missed an opportunity to tell friends and strangers alike about her family.
In her last few months, Mary was happily surrounded by two newborn great-nephews who brought her immense joy even on bad days. Her love for every generation of her family was admirable and infectious.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, August 16th at 11 am. The service will be held at the United Church of Christ in Medfield. In lieu of flowers, consider donating in Mary's name to Open Sky Community Services.
